Jessica Petit, LMHC

"This collection of stories highlights the incredible resilience of mothers who’ve navigated heartache and deeply emotional landscapes in their postpartum journeys. Woven throughout these stories is the reality of our broken system, and beckons us into action. How are we supporting mothers in their times of greatest need? How can we redefine our health system to include the missing component of ‘care’? Told through first-hand accounts, each chapter offers the perspective of motherhood through its own unique lens – capturing the love, the losses, and every emotion in between. Putting words to feelings and experiences is a powerful action. When another mother reads them and feels a little less alone, a little more understood, and validated in her experience, profound healing is possible. What began as one brave mother putting her story into words soon became an entire collection of them. A Woman’s Journey is the emotionally-provocative culmination of that bravery; an anthology with the capacity to validate, connect, and heal in ways we’ve only begun to explore.”

“Because every woman deserves an inside look at the reality of pregnancy, birth, and the challenges of mothering. Grief and loss mingle with joy and hope in these stories!"

Author Jessica Petit is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor specializing in Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders. She also experienced Postpartum Depression, Postpartum PTSD and Perinatal Anxiety. Jessica had real life stories that needed to be told as part of her own healing process, but also knew that so many women needed to share their stories as well. Women’s stories need to be told, heard and validated. They especially need to be normalized. All of us women in this book hope you are able to find comfort in at least one story.
